Supporting our Community
Having a sense of community is integral to our values at Opus Energy. With four offices based across Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, we’re always working hard to find out what’s happening in the area, sourcing local talent to recruit and trying to give back where we can.
Our Supporting the Community section is a news-hub that branches out into our regions so that we can stay as connected as possible. Within it we will be covering all the ways we invest in our counties and the talent on offer – from helping students in the area to pushing local recruitment.
Staying tuned in
With an office in Oxford and three more in Northampton, we really are at the heart of our respective counties. That’s why we try to stay as in-tune as possible with what’s going on in the local area. It could be finding ways to best serve our local companies, or choosing charities that operate in the area and need our help – if it’s local, we want to help.
Spotting local talent
Something we’re passionate about here at Opus Energy is creating the opportunity for employees to build rewarding careers. One of the ways we do this is through our Apprenticeship programme. This programme helps individuals who are looking for their next step, or even their first step, into a fulfilling career – meaning they don’t have to choose between qualifications and real world experience.
We approach students in the local schools to offer this competitively-compensated programme and our network with the local education providers is important to us. A recent highlight was our visit to Northampton College, where we turned up with sponsored champion gymnast Dan Keating to give students a (much-needed) motivational boost during exam time.
Our own HR team were on-hand to provide one-to-one career advice and CV consultations for the students, as well as providing information about our Apprenticeship Programme and our Graduate Scheme. Because we believe that to thrive as a community, we must put back into it.
