We are thrilled to announce that Opus Energy has been recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the UK’s 100 Best Companies to Work for 2015.
Ranking at number 87, Opus Energy is the only company headquartered in Northampton to have made the list. With over 500 employees currently working in Northampton, and around 100 also working in Oxford, we’re immensely proud of this outstanding recognition.
The results were gathered from employee feedback, with hundreds of surveys revealing that Opus Energy employees have very good levels of employee engagement across eight factors, including how employees feel about their manager, personal growth, team, pay and benefit.
We’ve also managed to improve upon our performance last year, including:
Employee personal growth – up 6%
Employee feelings about the organisation – up 5%
How employees value their line manager – up 5%
So how have Opus Energy done so well? Check out some of the reasons our employees rate us…
Opus Energy came 31st out of all 100 companies on the list for Wellbeing.
Why? An Opus Energy employee is treated as a person, not a number – all employees get private healthcare, a company-matched pension and a contribution towards a range of flexible benefits (including childcare vouchers, extra holiday, dental care and more).
Opus Energy came 7th out of all 100 companies on the list for Encouraging Charitable Activities.
Every year, employees choose 2-3 charities that are close to their hearts to support. In 2014, over £20,000 was raised for Mencap through all-year-round employee fundraising and company-matched funding. In 2015, Opus Energy employees have chosen to continue their support for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Beating Bowel Cancer, as well as a new addition, Guide Dogs UK.
Opus Energy achieved a strong Social Conscience score of 74%.
We host regular career days at Northampton College, where students can get advice on writing CVs and job searching. There is also a thriving Opus Energy Apprenticeship Programme, where students can gain a qualification while working a fully salaried role and receiving the same benefits as all other employees.
Opus Energy achieved a Caring about the Environment score of 72%.
Being environmentally conscious is encouraged throughout the company, and last year, 91% of energy supplied by Opus Energy was renewable and came from clean, low-carbon sources. Find out about the kinds of renewable power we use here.
