Opus Energy announces new charity partners for 2015!

Opus Energy has reached the beginning of a new fundraising year, and we’re over the moon to announce that we are officially supporting three charities: one new to Opus Energy, two old favourites, and all voted for and chosen directly by the Opus Energy employees.

Every year we set a high target to encourage all employees to support these important causes, and every penny raised is fund-matched by the company. Our last charity year saw us exceed all of our targets, so we’re really excited to get started and help make a difference for such crucial causes.

Read on to find out who we’re supporting and why their work is so important…

Guide Dogs UK

guidedogsGuide Dogs UK works to provide blind and partially sighted people greater mobility and freedom. Most of us know that Guide Dogs UK provides working dogs that assist in day-to-day activities and emotional support, but as a group they also do a lot more. Guide Dogs UK actively campaigns for the rights of those with visual impairments, fundraises for eye disease research and also works to educate the public about proper eye care.

With the Guide Dogs National Breeding Centre and Training School located in Leamington Spa, the charity is local to both of Opus Energy’s offices (in Northampton and Oxford) and we can’t wait to help them further their hard work throughout 2015.

Rainbows Children’s Hospice

rainbowsRainbows Children’s Hospice is a small hospice in Loughborough that provides palliative care for young people with life-limiting conditions. They also offer specialist respite stays, symptom management and endless support for their siblings, parents and families. First set up in 1994, the Rainbows team have been working since then to place an emphasis on enriching life and making every minute count.

This is the third year that Opus Energy has chosen to support the Rainbows Children’s Hospice. With fundraising taking place all year round, and many employees choosing to take a Volunteer Day out of the office to help at the Hospice, it’s a charity close to our hearts.

Beating Bowel Cancer

beatingbowelcancerBeating Bowel Cancer is a hardworking charity with a vision of “A world where bowel cancer is beaten.” Most importantly, they provide practical and emotional support for those affected by bowel cancer, running the UK’s only nurse-led specialist helpline for patients. They also promote earlier diagnosis of bowel cancer, campaign for high quality treatment, and bring people with bowel cancer together to share experiences.

Opus Energy are supporting Beating Bowel Cancer in 2015 for the second year in a row, after a diagnosis within the company’s workforce brought to light the need for such important care. With all employee fundraising matched and therefore doubled by the company, we once again hope to smash our targets and bring them closer to their goal.
