After Team GB’s success at last month’s Olympic test event in London, I had a two-day training camp at Lilleshall, then a short break at Centre Parcs with my girlfriend. Although there are lots of activities at Centre Parcs, I don’t always go on sporty holidays. I like to do a bit of relaxing as well. I generally find it really hard to completely relax and I guess I always have to be doing something physically – I normally enter myself into any team activities available.
After that I jetted off for a GB training camp in Cancun, Mexico. While there I started working on some new elements that I hope to include in my routines for the European Championships in May. These new routines will give me a higher start value and all I need to improve on is my consistency and execution. We were also allowed two and a half days rest – we spent half a day jet skiing, a full day at a water park, and also went snorkelling on a catamaran day trip.
In the run up to the European Championships Team GB will still be training six days a week with our normal Saturday off. I also have a few British and International competitions to fit in before then, as well as a couple of training camps at Lilleshall. The first competition is the Scottish Championships in Perth on the 18th and 19th February, where I’ll be trying out some of my new routines.
