I have just returned on Friday 11 February from the GB training camp in sunny Cancun, where we spent 10 days training twice a day from 0930 – 1300 and 1630 – 1900 with one day off when we went to the Xel-Ha resort to do some snorkelling, which was a welcome rest.
The camp was mainly used as a preliminary assessment on our preparations for the European Championships allowing the coaches to have a look at our routines and general fitness levels ahead of a detailed training plan being put together for the next eight weeks before the Europeans start in Berlin on 8 April.
I am still working on some new skills and my own fitness is improving all the time as I work all six apparatus again. I certainly hope to be challenging for a spot on the European team but it is still too early to say if I will be competing on all apparatus as I still have a lot of work to do between now and April.
After one day off on Saturday we are now back at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre for the next five days where I will be working on some routines that I hope to test at the Scottish Championships on the 26 February in Perth, Scotland. This will be my first competition since April last year.
