I have only just returned from the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall, Shropshire where the GB senior and junior squads were joined by both the Japanese and Canadian national squads.
I can safely say it has been the hardest two weeks of training I have ever had! We trained twice a day and worked on general conditioning, strength and individual moves; supported by a full medical, physio and nutritional advice for peak performance.
I personally thought I was still getting back to full fitness after my trip to Florida and the excess of the holiday season, but the intense training of the first week, it didn’t look that way. I shed 1.5 kilos and my stamina is getting back to the level it was before the World Championships. I do have a couple of small aches but nothing serious and I should be back in peak performance in about two weeks.
We also set our own personal objectives for the short to medium term,
which includes a lot of new skills for me ahead of the European and World Championships.
It was really good to work alongside both the Japanese and Canadian squads as we got to see where we are now and also what we need to improve on. Both teams have a vast amount of experience, success and respect. We have also been invited to work again with both teams in their respective countries which I am really looking forward to.
From here on in its all work, work, work ahead of the European Championships.
