Sponsorship

Opus Energy invests in the community by sponsoring local athletes. This financial support enables them to concentrate on their training and performance. We support two local, Northamptonshire-based athletes – Daniel Keatings and Chantelle Cameron. We also support Welsh based Paralympic pilot cyclist Lauryn Therin.

Daniel Keatings

Northamptonshire-based gymnast Dan Keatings won Britain’s first ever gold medal at the 2010 European Championships. His excellent performances have also seen him be the face of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this year, where he won individual gold and silver medals and a team silver medal as well. With his performances only getting stronger, Opus Energy backs him up his campaign to get selected for Team GB at the Olympics in Rio in 2016.

She has enjoyed a lot of success in a relatively short period of time, joining the GB Boxing women’s squad in 2011 after a very strong start to her boxing career. A young, spirited and strong boxer, she harbours hopes to make the Team GB squad for the Olympics in Rio in 2016.

Fundraising

We also support a number of charities in our endeavour to give back to the community. We want the work that we do to make a difference, and all of our employees share this collective vision. Our Charity committee works all year round to spearhead our fundraising goals, and additionally, any money that we raise for the charities is matched by the company, which helps it go a very long way towards having a positive impact.

We currently support three charities – Mencap, Rainbows Hospice and Beating Bowel Cancer.

Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs is a charity that helps provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. They campaign for the rights of people with visual impairment, educate the public about eye care and help fund eye disease research. Opus Energy has pledged to raise £15,000 for Guide Dogs during 2015/2016, and we’ve already had several lively fundraising events around the office including a games console day and a school uniform dress up day.

Rainbows

Rainbows Hospice works with life-limited children and their families to provide care, support and a positive environment. Opus Energy has pledged to raise £15,000 for Rainbows Hospice during 2015/16, and there have already been numerous fundraising activities in the office that have set us well on our way to surpassing that target. They include toy collection drives, raffles and regular volunteering days where our employees spend a day helping out at the Rainbows Hospice.

You can visit the Rainbows Hospice website to find out more about the charity.
